A Winter Night in Carrington
By Rich Reith
Walking down a small town street
On a frosty North Dakota night.
Oh! How the night enchants!
Trees covered with natures sugar frosting
Provide a crystal canopy.
All of creation
seems to glisten in the soft light of the full moon.
The air soundless,
broken only by the soft crunch of their feet
in the ice-glazed snow.
Our glove covered hands entwined,
Side by side they wander in a wonderland
Created by God,
Scarcely touched by man.
A frozen moment in time
as the world holds its breath.
Covered by a blanket of stars
On a mattress of snow
They look out
and see the face of God.
