A Fool In Love
By Rich Reith

There is no fool like a husband
who is pulled into loves eddy.
One who has faith in forevermore,
who believes in love rock-steady

A fool in love with a woman
Professing love for him,
Yet with one foot out the door
And love based on a whim.

“Unlikely I'd ever leave,” she says
Yet he somehow hears “Forever”
Oblivious to the constant chance
Of her running to someone better.

Will she swear to never leave?
“Never say never,” she says.
Still he believes in love’s power
To hold her just one more day.

And perhaps in one more day
Love’s certainty will take hold
And true commitment to their love
Will at last finally unfold.
